Jagex Accounts are the new, modern account system introduced by Jagex, offering stronger security, email-based logins, and the ability to manage multiple RuneScape or Old School RuneScape characters under a single account. They require using the Jagex Launcher and provide enhanced features like advanced two-factor authentication (2FA) and better account recovery options. Legacy Logins, on the other hand, are the older system where each account uses a separate username and password, often with more limited security and no launcher requirement. While Legacy accounts still work, Jagex is gradually moving players toward Jagex Accounts for better protection, easier management, and long-term support. We recommend upgrading for the best experience, unless you rely on third-party tools or clients that don’t yet support Jagex Accounts.
